About CrutchDirectory
A free, ad-light directory of the 172,579 US businesses registered to supply crutches and other mobility equipment, plus plain-language guides to buying them.
Why it exists
Searching "where to buy crutches near me" returns two things: national retailer pages that do not know where you are, and map results that do not distinguish a pharmacy with one aluminum pair from an equipment dealer that will fit you properly. Neither tells you what a given store is actually likely to have.
The federal supplier registry can answer that, because it records what kind of supplier each business registered as. It is public, it is free, and nobody had turned it into something a person with a broken ankle can use. That is this site.
What we do and do not claim
We claim that each listed business is registered with CMS as a supplier of medical equipment or as a pharmacy, at the address shown, as of the CMS NPPES Data Dissemination, August 2026 file (2026-08-10). We do not claim any of them has crutches in stock today. That distinction is deliberate and it runs through every page. The full methodology is public, including what the data cannot tell you.
Editorial rules
- No paid placement. No business can pay to be listed, ranked higher, or removed.
- No invented data. If the registry has no phone number, the listing says so rather than showing a plausible one.
- No medical advice. We describe products and costs. Which mobility aid suits your injury is a conversation with a clinician.
- Affiliate links are disclosed and separated. They appear only on buying guides, are marked sponsored, and have no connection to the directory data.
- Corrections are free and fast. Report anything wrong and it changes in the next build.
How it is funded
Affiliate commissions on the buying guides, where a link to an online retailer may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The directory itself earns nothing from any listed business, which is the point: there is no incentive to rank one supplier over another.
